ANALISIS KOMPARATIF DOA BAPA KAMI: TELAAH TEKSTUAL DAN TEOLOGIS DALAM MATIUS 6:9-13 DAN LUKAS 11:2-4

Abstract

The Lord's Prayer is an important element in the Christian tradition taught by Jesus Christ to his followers. In the New Testament, this prayer is found in two versions, namely in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke, which many Christians are rarely aware of. Most people are more familiar with the Matthew version than the Luke version. This study focuses on a comparative analysis between the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4, especially from textual and theological aspects, to understand the differences and significance of each version.

In the Greek text, Matthew and Luke use different words for sin: "ofeilēma" (debt) in Matthew and "hamartia" (sin) in Luke. While in the King James Version (KJV), the main difference lies in the absence of doxology in Luke, which is a later addition in the tradition of the Byzantine text. Research shows that this doxology was most likely a 4th or 5th-century AD addition.

The research confirms that the differences between the Matthew and Luke versions are editorial rather than substantive, to understand the meaning and theological implications of each version. In conclusion, despite the textual differences, the core of the Lord's Prayer remains the same, namely as a prayer guide taught by Jesus. A deeper understanding of the historical and theological context of this prayer is important for the faithful life of Christians.
